A Chinese supertanker has successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz despite a dual naval blockade by the US and Iran, reports Caixin.
The Chinese-flagged very large crude carrier Yuan Hua Hu sailed out of the Persian Gulf through the contested strait. The 310,000-ton vessel was fully loaded with crude oil from Iraq's Al Basrah Oil Terminal. A large car carrier, the Xiang Jiang Kou, exited alongside it.
Both ships belong to China COSCO Shipping, the state-owned maritime conglomerate. According to Diaodubao, a digital scheduling platform, the vessels turned off their automatic identification systems near Dubai. They then reactivated tracking while passing through the strait, broadcasting their status as 'CHINESE OWNER&CREW.'
