China Southern and Xiamen Airlines have ordered 137 Airbus A320neo aircraft, valued at $21.37 billion, to modernize their fleets and enhance competitiveness.
China Southern Airlines and its subsidiary, Xiamen Airlines, have signed agreements with Airbus to purchase 137 A320neo series aircraft, reports Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.
The deal encompasses 102 aircraft for China Southern and 35 for Xiamen Airlines, with a combined list price of US$21.37 billion. Both carriers indicated that discounts were applied, and the agreements remain subject to shareholder and state approval.
Deliveries to China Southern are scheduled between 2028 and 2032, while Xiamen Airlines will receive its aircraft between 2029 and 2032. The companies stated that the purchase will strengthen their competitiveness through fleet modernization.
China Southern's board added that the order supports state-led initiatives, including the Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative, while expanding capacity to meet future demand.
