China has completed the Qinglongmen Grand Bridge, enhancing logistics at Ningbo-Zhoushan port, the busiest cargo port globally.
China has finished building the main span of the Qinglongmen Grand Bridge at Ningbo-Zhoushan port, reported Hong Kong's South China Morning Post. The new link is expected to boost logistics efficiency at the world's busiest cargo port.
The 2,212-metre structure in Zhejiang province connects a cluster of islands within the port complex. It is the world's longest three-tower cable-stayed bridge, with twin spans of 756 metres.
Unlike conventional two-tower designs, the bridge uses a third pylon to support longer spans across wide shipping channels. Standing 249 metres tall, about the height of an 80-storey building, the towers form the centrepiece of a project aimed at integrating fragmented port islands into a unified expressway network.
