Captain Omar suffered engine failure in the Strait of Istanbul General cargo vessel Captain Omar suffered engine failure while transiting in the Strait of Istanbul (The Bosphorus) at around 0330 LT Sep 14 13. Turkish Straits VTS immediately dispatched rescue boats and tugs were to the distressed freighter. Captain Omar was taken to Beykoz anchorage by the tug Kurtarma 4, and anchored there.
