LABOUR union Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) has announced that its members who work for Canadian National Railway (CN) could go on strike by November 19

LABOUR union Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) has announced that its members who work for Canadian National Railway (CN) could go on strike by November 19. Last month, 3,000 CN conductors and train and yard personnel voted unanimously in favour of a strike. TCRC officials said in a press release that the union will provide CN at least 72 hours advance warning before taking any strike action, reported Progressive Railroading online.

A legally mandated conciliation period ended on October 25. The union and CN have been in negotiations for six months and have been working with federal mediators for the past four months.

The previous collective agreement between the parties expired on July 23.

The next round of discussions with CN and federal mediators is scheduled for November 12, TCRC officials said.
