Boeing secured 186 firm aircraft orders at the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow, outpacing Airbus, which announced 157, reported Farnborough's Aerospace Global News. Including preliminary commitments, Boeing widened its lead with Philippine Airlines' agreement for up to 20 787 Dreamliners.
Boeing's largest deal was for 100 737 MAX aircraft for SMBC Aviation Capital. Other highlights included 28 additional 787s for Riyadh Air, 15 787-9s for AerCap, eight aircraft for Uganda Airlines, five 777-8 Freighters for MSC Air Cargo, and two 737-10s for Luxair.
Airbus matched Boeing's narrowbody order with 100 A320neo family aircraft for SMBC Aviation Capital. It also announced 25 aircraft for flynas, 10 A220-300s for BermudAir, four A320neo family aircraft for Shohin Airlines, and six A350-1000s for Riyadh Air. Philippine Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding for nine A350-1000s.
Boeing finished with 134 narrowbody and 52 widebody aircraft, while Airbus recorded 127 narrowbody and 30 widebody orders. Boeing's advantage stood at 29 firm aircraft, or 40 including commitments.
Both manufacturers entered the show with record backlogs of nearly 17,000 aircraft, stretching production well into the next decade. Supply chain constraints rather than sales momentum continue to shape the competition.
The show reinforced airline confidence in both planemakers, particularly in fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft, while demand for next-generation widebodies remained strong despite limited delivery slots.
