On April 8, 2026, Russian drones attacked Izmail Port, damaging infrastructure and affecting four vessels amid rising tensions in the region.
Russian unmanned aerial vehicles launched an attack on the Izmail Port located in the Odesa region of Ukraine in the early morning of April 8, 2026. The port, which is one of the most important logistics centers on the Danube River, continues to be a target of increasing attacks in recent times.
It has been reported that, in addition to the port infrastructure, several ships were also affected in the attack. According to initial information, 4 ships were impacted by the attack, with some of the vessels sustaining damage.
Authorities have not yet shared any information regarding casualties or injuries related to the attack.
Meanwhile, footage seemingly taken from ships near the port shows that fires broke out in the warehouses and port infrastructure following the attack. The images reveal that ship traffic was ongoing in the area during the incident, while there is no clear information regarding the extent of the damage to the vessels.
Izmail Port has recently taken on a critical role in Ukraine's exports via the Danube route due to security risks in the Black Sea.
