Aret Taşcıyan, Chairman of the Board of Lockton Omni and one of the leading figures in Turkish marine insurance, shared insights from his 50-year career in a conversation published on Lockton Europe's YouTube channel. Taşcıyan, who is also among the first members of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping, answered questions from Lockton Omni broker Tanalp Tokgöz during the program.
In the interview, Taşcıyan focused on his professional journey, evaluating the transformation of marine insurance in Turkey from individual efforts to a corporate structure and the current state of the industry. He discussed the changes the sector has undergone, the pivotal moments experienced, and the lessons learned.
Emphasizing the importance of education, Taşcıyan stated that the understanding of a 'maritime nation' should not remain merely a slogan. To achieve this goal, he suggested incorporating water sports such as swimming and sailing into the educational curriculum starting from middle school, expressing that the bond established with the sea at an early age would be crucial for the development of maritime culture.
