A.P. Moller Capital has acquired a majority stake in Moroccan logistics firm Globex, enhancing its investment in Africa's logistics sector.
The international logistics industry has witnessed another significant ownership transition. Danish investment firm A.P. Moller Capital has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Moroccan logistics enterprise Globex Investissement, executed through two of its managed funds.
Following the completion of the transaction, Globex founder and Chief Executive Officer Omar El Kadiri will retain operational leadership of the company, ensuring continuity across both management and day-to-day business operations.
The acquisition was jointly completed by A.P. Moller Capital's Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund II and the APM Capital Morocco Fund. As the dedicated investment arm of the A.P. Moller Group, A.P. Moller Capital has maintained a sustained strategic focus on infrastructure and logistics investment opportunities across the African continent in recent years. With the transaction concluded, the firm will continue its collaboration with El Kadiri to advance Globex into its next phase of growth.
A.P. Moller Capital Chief Executive Officer Kim Fejfer stated that the investment aligns closely with the firm's areas of expertise and priority investment geographies. He noted that Globex has established itself as a significant operator in the transport and logistics sector, and that Morocco - bolstered by a favorable macroeconomic environment and a continuously developing logistics infrastructure - is rapidly positioning itself as a central logistics hub for the North African region.
Founded in 1998, Globex operates across express delivery, road freight, freight forwarding, and customs brokerage, with a workforce of approximately 350 employees across Africa. The precise financial terms of the transaction and the exact equity stake acquired by A.P. Moller Capital have not been disclosed; the deal remains subject to approval from Morocco's competition authority.
From a broader investment perspective, A.P. Moller Capital has maintained Africa as a core strategic focus since its establishment in 2017. The acquisition of a controlling interest in Globex marks a further deepening of its commitment to the North African logistics market - and reflects a wider trend: as Morocco continues to strengthen its role within regional trade and logistics networks, its transport, freight forwarding, and ancillary logistics services sector is attracting increasing attention from international capital.
