THE US Transportation Security Administration has reappointed the Airforwarders Association's executive director Brandon Fried to serve on TSA's Aviation Security Advisory Committee. This marks the third time that Mr Brand will be a committee member, and he will serve for a two-year term. The TSA Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) was set up in 1989 to advise the TSA administrator on aviation security matters, including the development and implementation of policies, programmes, rule-making, and security directives related to aviation security, reported AJOT.
Mr Brandon was re-appointed to the 31-member ASAC to represent the viewpoint of indirect air carriers. Previously, his participation on the committee has proven to be an invaluable asset for membership by facilitating a platform to communicate critical feedback to TSA about air cargo security programmes.
His participation on the committee has also created the opportunity to lead the effort towards establishing programmes and protocols that enhance security and efficiency for all aviation constituents.
'As an advocate for our industry, I have the opportunity to stimulate conversation and action regarding pressing concerns such as airport congestion, tactics and technologies for cargo security, and safe and effective off-airport cargo screening,' Mr Brandon was quoted as saying.
