Sedef Shipyard launched the 650 TEU container ship NB226 for A2B-Online, highlighting Turkey's maritime engineering excellence.
Istanbul's Sedef Shipyard successfully held the launching ceremony for the new generation container ship, NB226, which has a capacity of 650 TEU and was built for its Dutch client, A2B-Online.
The ceremony took place on a semi-wet slipway and featured speeches from Project Manager Mesut Orhan, Business Development Manager Ethem Çim, and A2B-Online Ship Management General Manager Gerhard Quist. This significant moment, resulting from months of effort and strong collaboration, brought great joy and pride to all participants as the ship met the sea during the ceremony.
Gratitude was expressed to all colleagues who contributed to this special day, as well as to the A2B-Online team for their trust in the project.
Sedef Shipbuilding Industry Inc. was established in 1972 in Gebze and relocated to the Tuzla Shipyards Region of Istanbul in 1990. Operating under Turkon Holding, the shipyard has made a significant mark in the Turkish maritime sector by completing over 200 successful projects.
As Turkey's largest private shipyard, Sedef Shipyard constructs both commercial and military vessels in its facilities, which boast a wide production area and high capacity. Notably, it has an annual construction capacity of 600,000 DWT and a large dry dock suitable for ship production of up to 180,000 DWT. Furthermore, it is recognized as one of the most modern shipyards in Europe due to its environmentally friendly production areas and the use of advanced technology.
