APM Terminals (APMT) Maasvlakte II has officially commenced its terminal expansion project, undertaken in collaboration with the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the CareGo consortium, reports London's Port Technology International.
The expansion will double the terminal's capacity, positioning apmt MVII as Europe's largest, most efficient, and most sustainable automated APMT operator.
The project includes the development of 51 hectares of container terminal space, featuring 1,000 metres of deep-sea quay, truck and rail transfer zones, and the latest-generation Automatic Terminal Trucks.
The expansion incorporates emission-free Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and fully electrified, sustainable infrastructure.
The first phase is slated for completion by the end of 2026.
