MAERSK's standalone APM Terminals Izmir in Turkey has ordered three Shanghai ZPMC quay cranes capable of handling ships larger than 10,000 TEU, reports American Shipper.
APM Terminals Izmir has 10 rubber-tyre gantries on order to be delivered in the summer of 2015 as part of Phase I, the facility's next stage of development.
APM Terminals said the quay cranes will have an outreach of 22 containers, while the RTGs will be electric to minimise carbon emissions and ensure higher productivity.
In February 2013, APM Terminals signed with petrochemical giant Petkim to operate a new US$400 million 1.5 million TEU container and general deep-water terminal at Petkim Port in Aliaga, Izmir.
Phase I is to be completed in the second half of 2015, with phase II to be finished one and a half years later, APM Terminals said.
