Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) has further strengthened its new airline team with the appointment of former Emirates SkyCargo executive anders Matikka.
Mr Matikka will be head of cargo operations, compliance and governance for the fledgling carrier, which is using leased aircraft from Atlas Air. Under the agreement, Atlas will operate four new 777-200Fs for the shipping line, with the first delivery due this quarter.
MSC said last month it had appointed US air cargo veteran Jannie Davel, formerly of Delta Cargo and head of Emirates SkyCargo's Americas operations, to lead its airline, according to London's Air Cargo News.
Mr Matikka has held two roles in air cargo: he was manager global cargo operations services for Emirates between 2018 and 2020; and spent two years as chief administrative officer for CargoLogic Management, Volga-Dnepr's UK offshoot. He is based in Geneva.
