CARGO handler alliance Ground International (AGI) has acquired Maestro International Cargo as it looks to expand its presence in Chicago.
AGI said that Maestro has positioned itself as one of Chicago O'Hare's (ORD) 'leading ground handlers', focusing on 'excellent customer service and an innovative cold-chain pharmaceutical service offering'.
AGI and Maestro's combined warehouse footprint at ORD is now over one million square feet.
'This acquisition adds additional airport warehouses and aircraft parking at ORD as AGI continues to poise itself for growth,' the company said.
Said AGI chief executive Jared Azcuy: 'AGI will continue to aggressively pursue opportunities to partner with companies like MIC to expand our growing presence in North America and beyond with a focus on air cargo and below the wing services to the dedicated air freighter and commercial aviation markets.'
Said Maestro CEO Edip Pektas added: 'We are looking forward to building the business together at ORD and across the country and are very excited that our employees will have new opportunities and possibilities.'
Earlier this year, AGI opened a new air freight facility near Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey.
The 76,000-square foot handling centre will process imported freight, trucked from the airport five minutes away.
