FOLLOWING the deployment of most of its aircraft on West Asian routes, air India Express, owned by the Tata Group, is poised to expand its international operations to Southeast Asia and other regional destinations, reports New Delhi's Financial Express.
This expansion includes Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Nepal services.
Notably, the airline's ability to reach these destinations has been enhanced with the recent addition of new aircraft to its fleet.
Since the launch of its new brand, Air India Express has swiftly incorporated four Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft, bringing the total fleet size to 57.
Over the next 15 months, the airline plans to introduce a total of 50 new aircraft, with the overarching goal of expanding its fleet to 170 narrow-body aircraft within the next five years.
This growth strategy aligns with the carrier's plan to establish a network covering both domestic and international routes.
'We are evaluating to commence new flight operations in south and southeast Asia. New flight services to destinations in Nepal, Bangladesh and other countries in this region might be started soon,' said sources.
