TWO Chinese lithium battery parts manufacturers have announced plans to build factories in Louisiana to escape new US tariffs on China imports, reports Caixin.
Capchem Technology USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shenzhen Capchem Technology, said that it plans to invest US$350 million to build an integrated carbonate solvent and lithium-ion battery electrolyte manufacturing facility in Louisiana.
The project has received local government subsidies, including a 10-year $71.3 million tax break and infrastructure construction subsidies, the company said. Capchem disclosed last year that it also plans to invest $120 million to set up a battery chemicals production base in Ohio.
Shenzhen-based Kedali Industry, a maker of precision structural parts for power batteries, recently announced plans to invest $49 million to build plant in Indiana.
