15 injured in collision on the Elbe
The German tug "Jörn - H 4038" (EU-No.: 5117310; built 1926) was in collision with the 18-m-launch "Irma II - 8H 3055" (built 1959) on July 7 at 3 p.m. The accident happened on the Elbe in Hamburg off the dock 10 of the Blohm & Voss Yard.
15 persons were injured, seven of them seriously.
The tug hit the launch which was on a harbour tour with 50 passengers, and the impact was so strong, that the windows broke.
Both ships were able to berth at a pontoon near the dock where the injured were initially treated before being taken to hospital.
The fire rescue and police were on scene with 60 men. Divers did not find leaks in the hull of the launch.
