SOUTHWESTERN China's port of Wuzhou on the Xijiang River handled 400,000 TEU in 2013, which took up 70 per cent of box throughput aggregation of the river ports in Guangxi Autonomous Region.
This marks that Wuzhou has become the largest river port in Guangxi, according to Xinhua's report.
In the same year, the port's throughput tonnage added up to 30.15 million tonnes, taking up 28 per cent of the tonnage total of Guangxi's river ports.
Wuzhou port's capacity will be raised higher by 2015. The part of the port on the upper section of local hydraulic dam will be able to handle 20 million tonnes, while the part on the lower section will be able to handle 30 million tonnes. Wuzhou will develop into one of the major river ports in China that handle both containers and bulk.
