During a routine check, customs officers discovered a dead worker aboard the 'KAti' which was berthed in Wismar with a cargo of wood. It appeared that the 49-year-old man was suffocated. The officers found the body in a cargo hold with very little oxygen in the afternoon of July 16, 2018. In this danger zone, the worker should have had to wear an oxygen mask which was not the case. Investigators assumed an accident. Presumably, the sailor, who comes from Estonia, fainted because he got too little oxygen after had fallen and injured his head. In the afternoon of July 17, the police searched the scene again. The ship, which had come from Pärnu, has meanwhile been released by the investigators, but remained docked by July 18.
