On June 3, 2017, at 2.15 p.m. the "Tecla", 1054 ts (EU-No.: 06004025), allided with the Sterkrade Road Bridge spanning the Rhein-Herne-Canal in Duisburg-Oberhausen. The wheelhouse was torn off, and its roof fell into the waterway. The 67-year old French master and his two crew members remained uninjured. The water- and shipping authority later recovered the roof from the canal bottom. The ship was sidelined at the canal locks until repairs were carried out. The damage was estimated to be around 50.000 Euro. The ship had previously unloaded its cargo in Gelsenkirchen and probably not taken on enough ballast water to match the passage height of 5,50 meters. The bridge remained undamaged.
