On Apr 22, 2017, the "Loreley Elegance“ (EU-No.: 04807530) ran aground on the Rhine at Filsen in the Rhein-Lahn-municipality during a turning manoever. The ship which had no passengers on board got too close to the right river shore and hit the bottom. The rudder was damaged, and the hull was breached at the stern with ensuing water ingress which could be controlled with the own bilge pumps. The master could take the vessel to a nearby ferry berth. Another vessel moved the passenger ship to the nearby Kamp-Bornhofen. Ferry traffic between Boppard and Filsen was stopped during this manoever. On Apr 23 a tug took the "Lorely Elegance" to the Lux-Yard in Niederkassel-Mondorf near Bonn for repairs where it arrived at 2.30 p.m.
