THE world's only civilian nuclear cargo ship carrying a cargo of fish between Russia's Far East and St Petersburg cancelled its second voyage on the Northern Sea Route for the want of profit, reports the Barents Observer of Kirkenes, Norway.
Sailing from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, via the port of Nakhodka and all along the north coast of Siberia and around Scandinavia with seafood to St Petersburg.
The first voyage took place in September with a second planned for late October or early November but the second voyage cancellation was 'due to a decline in export demand from ports in Eastern Europe'.
Freight rate is down 20 per cent for this routes, said Rosatomflot with reference to the freighters. The business model for sailing Sevmorput was based on bringing return-cargo on the eastbound voyage.
