THE United States is banning cotton and tomato products from China's Xinjiang Uyghur region, owing to human rights concerns, reports Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.
As the region produces a fifth of the world's cotton supplies, the measure is important to the global textile industry, said the report.
'Made in China' does not just indicate a country of origin - it's a warning label,' Ken Cuccinelli, the acting deputy secretary of US Homeland Security, said at a news briefing.
