Two dead in explosion on LNG-tanker
The "DL Calla" suffered an explosion late on Dec 10, 2014, killing two crewmembers and injuring another two.
The ship was heading from South Korea to Thailand, and exploded about 26 nautical miles northeast off Kuala Terengganu, due to a cargo leak.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) sent a rescue team to the location of the accident.
The fire had already been put out when the rescue team arrived, however, two crewmembers – one a Myanmar national, the other South Korean – died due to severe burns.
The dead were identified as Myanmar national Zaw Myo Htut, 23, and South Korean Song Oh Weon, 56, and the injured as Myanmar Khine Zin Lin, 28, and Chow Tea Won, 64, from South Korea. The vessel suffered minimal damage from the explosion and continued its journey to Thailand, reported SeaShip News.
There was a total of 23 crewmembers on board at the time of the incident.
