The P&O Ferries' Pride of Burgundy lost control in high winds whilst maneuvering within the Port of Calais and collided with the MyFerryLink ship Berlioz causing damage to her lifeboats.
Two ferries flying Channel collided Saturday at mid-day in the port of Calais (Pas-de- Calais ) no injuries, onWed removed due to high winds.
"There are big gusts in the port of Calais and during an operation, a ship, the Pride of Burgundy of the company P & O has collided with another ship, Berlioz My Ferry Link, "said one source port.
"The damage to the edge of Berlioz would be quite important at whaling," she said. According to a passenger who was on board the Pride of Burgundy, the shock was not felt inside the ship.
"During his turn maneuver to leave the port, the ship was unable to control its trajectory and wind pushed against the Berlioz, who was at the dock," Benedict told Marin, who was on board with his wife and three children.
"The passengers did not feel the collision, or very little," he said. "We saw that Wed was removed and it was blowing so mad, but the departure maneuver seemed to go well. There was no noise, no shock or earthquake. " After the accident , the boat turned around to return to dock. "All the passengers were landed in the parking lot and wait another P & O ferry come and take," said the witness.
According to another passenger, who wished to remain anonymous, passengers were able to resume Wed to 17:00, after several hours of waiting in the parking lot.
"All passengers complain. They are not happy because nobody was informed. PERSON P & O moved to see how the passengers were in their car in the cold and hail." Currently all customers due to cross on the Berlioz are being transferred to the Rodin when you arrive at the port. MyFerryLink apologises for the inconvenience caused by this unforseen accident.
