Mr Cheng addressed the importance of the series of 1,800-TEUers for TS Line. "Although the operating environment for ocean freight undergoes recession for several years, ship owners become increasingly conservative in placing new orders. With our consistent support for the local industry and our trust to the well established reputation for CSBC, we have chosen CSBC over other overseas shipbuilders to build our 1,800 TEU containerships."

"Apart from the four 1,800-TEUers, we will continue to place new orders at CSBC's Keelung shipyard," said Mr Chen.
TS Bangkok is the first ship of the series. Work began in 2015, TS Bangkok has received certification from ClassNK (NK) and CR Classification Society (CR). The ship has a length of 172 metres and a width of 27.5 metres, it was the first containership equipped with CSBC's Sea-Sword Bow (SSB) technology. Compared to the traditional bow design, the SSB design is more efficient in energy saving and carbon reduction.
The SSB design's energy-saving device enables the ships to maintain optimum performance in various navigational conditions and to reduce fuel consumption. The design has been published on the cover of The Naval Architect for three consecutive years. It is also known as the best innovative vessel.
TS Bangkok will be serving the intra-Asia trade lane on the JHT service and her port rotation is: Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya, Yokohama, Tokyo, Keelung, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shekou, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Hong Kong, Shekou, Osaka.
