THE Port of thessaloniki container throughput decreased 1.7 per cent in 2022, reports St Petersburg's PortNews.
The company reported consolidated revenue of US$89 million, an increase of 5.6 per cent compared to the previous year.
The subsidiary ThPA Sofia EAD reported a revenue of $1.85 million. The container terminal generated an additional revenue of $3.16 million, an increase of 5.5 per cent, and the conventional cargo terminal generated an additional revenue of $0.22 million, an increase of 0.8 per cent.

Despite the growth in revenue, the gross profits decreased 6.5 per cent, operating profits decreased 1.5 per cent, and group net profit after tax decreased six per cent.
The company attributes this decrease to the performance of the subsidiary ThPA Sofia EAD, which is in its early years of operation, and increased costs of energy and consumables.
To mitigate these factors, the management of ThPA SA has implemented cost-cutting measures.
Container throughput decreased 1.7 per cent to 463,000 TEU in 2022, while the quantities of conventional cargo handled decreased 12.3 per cent to 3.7 million tons.
