Small Sinopec tanker explodes at Ningbo berth, killing 7, causing oil spill
AT least seven were killed and one was injured when the 300 deadweight oil tanker, the Xuyang 11, exploded at the Zhangjiangqi Shipyard in Ningbo, reports Xinhua.
The ship, owned by Sinopec, was at berth in the shipyard undergoing repairs. Some say the explosion was sparked when fumes ignited in badly ventilated fuel tanks. The oil spill is said to have extended into the 81-mile long Yongjiang River.
