THE Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has
announced in marine circular No.07 that revisions have been made to its gas free
inspection charges that will apply to inspection bookings made on or after July
1.
Under the existing dangerous goods, petroleum and explosives
regulations, any vessel which has carried (as a whole or part of her last cargo)
class "A" petroleum, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), or class "B"
petroleum is not allowed into the port or shipyards unless the ship has been
certified free from flammable vapour by an inspector of petroleum.
The revised gas free inspection charges are as follows: for
vessels with tonnage of less than 1,000 gross tons, a charge of S$250 (US$186)
will apply, and for every additional 5,000 gross tons thereafter or part
thereof, an additional charge of S$70 applies.
The delay/waiting
charges have been set at S$150 per hour or part thereof; and cancellation
charges of S$150 will be applied per occurrence.
The port
authority stated on its website that the cut off timing for the application of
the cancellation charge has been aligned to that of the gas free inspection
booking.
Outside of normal operating hours a 100 per cent
surcharge will apply, it added.
