Singapore-linked Simatech buys two 3,300-TEU vessels from ER Shiffahrt
GERMAN non-operating shipowner E.R. Schiffahrt has sold two 15-year-old 3,359-TEU vessels, the ER Sydney and ER Melbourne to Singapore interests linked to Dubai-based feeder ship operator Simatech.
Renamed the Uni Globe and Uni Galaxy, respectively, Simatech intends to deploy the vessels on its intra-Gulf and Gulf-India services. The company operates 16 different destinations within the Gulf, the Indian subcontinent, Far East and East Africa.
These two vessels are now the largest owned ships in Simatech's fleet, which already comprises eight owned ships ranging in size from 1,200 to 1,700 TEU, reports Alphaliner. Its operated fleet totals 40,000 TEU of which 70 per cent is chartered, with the largest chartered ship having a capacity of 4,600 TEU.
