The 'Paganini' has disposed of its untreated sewage into German territorial waters. During a Marpol control by the water police station Brunsbüttel in Elbehafen on Oct 5, 2018, in the Elbe Port of Brunsbüttel att 10.15 a.m. officers found that the wastewater treatment plant has apparently been subject to no maintenance for some time. The sewage of the ship had a strong turbidity and strong smell shortly before the outboard pump. Furthermore, the wrong disinfectant was in use and the sewage sludge return line was clogged. As a result of these shortcomings, the ship may have launched some 950 liters of untreated sewage into German waters on its last voyage. After a presentation by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, a security deposit of 800 euros was asked from the Chief Engineer who was responsible for the violation of the marine environment code. Minor deficiencies in the documentation in the oil journal and in the ballast water diary also led to a fine. The ship berthed in Hamburg the same day.
