Russian Kaliningrad box volume falls 58.2pc to 50,570 TEU in first 4 months
THE Russian Baltic port of Kaliningrad's container volume dropped 58.2 per cent to 50,570 TEU during the first four months of the year, reports Gdynia's Baltic Transport Journal.
This represented a tonnage decrease of 41 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier.
The port's total throughput over the reporting period fell by 4.7 per cent year on year to 4.3 million tonnes, reported Baltic Transport Journal.
The volume of oil products handled decreased by 18.5 per cent to 732,400 tonnes, metal shipment volumes were down 11.9 per cent to 384,600 tonnes, and grains were down by 55.2 per cent to 384,300 tonnes.
Ro-ro traffic was the only segment that recorded an increase, after volumes rose 24.7 per cent to 576,500 tonnes.
