Royal Caribbean Cruises has ordered its ”Project Sunshine” vessels from Meyer Werft in Germany.
According to the letter of intent, the first 158,000 GT cruise vessel will be delivered in the autumn of 2014. The agreement includes an option on a sister ship to be delivered in the spring of 2015.
Although a completely new generation, the ”Project Sunshine” is of the same size as the Freedom class vessels and thus considerably smaller than the newest Oasis class.
Meyer Werft is also the builder of the five Solstice class vessels for Royal Caribbean’s Celebrity Cruises brand, of which two remain to be delivered.
