Rhenus to build second quay for breakbulk terminal at Rotterdam port
A NEW 280-metre quay is to be built on the east side of Rhenus Deep Sea Terminal in Rotterdam to meet rising demand for breakbulk capacity.
The existing terminal is already equipped with a 500-metre long quay on the south side to handle non-ferrous metals, steel products and project cargo.
At the moment, three mobile cranes are available, with 100-tonne hoisting capacity. A fourth will become operational after completion of the quay.
Rhenus Logistics also uses ‘Sennebogen" cranes for handling metals. The terminal covers 20 hectares, with 70,000 square metres of covered storage space and a rail connection.
The Rhenus Group bought the terminal on the Maasvlakte in June 2011.
