QATAR's gateway to the world, Hamad Port, achieved a milestone of handling six million containers, reports Qatar's daily Peninsula.
The port also handled 13 million freight tonnes of non-cointainerised cargo since the start of its operations.
'QTerminals is proud to achieve two new milestones of handling six million TEU and 13 million freight tonnes of non-containerised cargo at Hamad Port since the start of operations.' said QTerminals, the terminal operating company providing services at Hamad Port.
The port started its full operations in December 2016. In August 2019, Hamad Port was ranked among the world's top 120 container ports.
The capacity of Hamad Port will reach 7.5 million TEU annually on completion of all its ongoing construction phases.
In September 2019, Hamad Port had set a Guinness World Record as the deepest artificial basin ever made, being four kilometres long, 700 metres wide and 17 metres deep.
