ONE of Poland's leading intermodal transport operators, PCC Intermodal, will add a fifth weekly connection to Rotterdam from/to its Frankfurt (Oder) terminal in Germany later this year.
The terminal officially inaugurated in December by PCC Intermodal currently also offers six weekly connections on the east-west corridor to and from Kutno (central Poland), a statement from Port of Rotterdam said.
The catchment areas served by the terminal that is mainly used for rail-to-rail cross-docking operations and include not only the economic regions of Frankfurt (Oder), Zielona Gora, Gorzow and Cottbus, but also Berlin, Szczecin and Dresden.
The terminal has an annual handling capacity of 100,000 TEU and is equipped with four tracks with a length of 600 metres each, a newly installed gantry crane, two reach stackers for container handling operations, and has 30,000 square metres of operating space, including storage space for 1,000 TEU.
