HONG Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has announced that it has withdrawn a couple of sailings on its Trans-Atlantic trade due to the expected low demand during the Christmas and New ear.
On its Gateway Express 2 (GEX2) service the westbound sailing from Southampton on December 28 and the eastbound sailing from Montreal on December 31 have been withdrawn.
On its Atlantic Express 2 (AX2) service the westbound sailing from Southampton on January 2, 2016 and the eastbound sailing from Veracruz on January 23, 2016 have been cancelled.
Meanwhile, the shipping line announced a new service to the Intra-Asia network, the KTX8, as part of our existing KTX Suite.
The KTX8 service will provide direct services from Ho Chi Minh and Kaohsiung to Japan.
"Further to the enhanced connections through the new direct links, KTX8 can also offer customers with the flexibility of a different cut-off time, (in addition to the one offered by KTX2), for shipments between Laem Chabang and Japan," the company said.
Three vessels will be deployed in the KTX8 service, with the first sailing from Tokyo on December 5.
The KTX8 port rotation is Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe, Shekou, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh, Kaohsiung and returning to Tokyo.
