OOCL Belgium accident cargo recovery 'minimises impact on shippers'
AFTER the 2,992-TEU OOCL Belgium required emergency drydocking in
Bremerhaven, recovery action on Gateway Express Service (GEX1 &
GEX2) cargo has minimised the impact on shipppers, said Hong Kong's OOCL and "normalisation of service and schedule for the two trade routes is
well in progress".
"We have taken various recovery actions including chartering external
slots, diversion of urgent traffic to other gateways or services, and we are now working to put the service schedules back to normal in the
coming weeks," said the OOCL statement.
"We will keep you informed of the recovery schedules of both service
routes in due course," said the company of the ice-strengthened ship
that plies the north Atlantic trade between Europe and Montreal.
Earlier the company said: "We would like to inform you that the vessel
OOCL Belgium will undergo emergency dry dock upon arrival at Bremerhaven on March 22. Currently, we are working closely on all affected
shipments to minimise the impact on supply chains. All cargo destined to Le Havre will be discharged at Bremerhaven and we will keep you posted
with updated vessel voyage information from Bremerhaven to Le Havre once available."
