Small oil residues have washed up on several beaches of As Vig near Juelsminde and Endelave on Feb 12. A maritime reconnaissance started ion Feb 13 at sunrise at Endelave to see whether more oil was swept onto the beaches. Also the areas between Samsø, Horsens Fjord and Vejle Fjord were being monitored. The oil residues were not in such large quantities that they needed to be cleaned up. It was, however, still too early to be sure the oil was from the "Victoria". The holes in the bottom tanks were probably about nine meters below the water surface, and it may be a helping factor in keeping the oil, since the pressure at that depth can help to keep the oil inside. The oil floats on the water that entered the tank and the water level in the tank has increased considerably. The Danish Defence has deployed the anti pollution ships "Marie Miljø" and "Gunnar Thorsen" as well as the patrol boats "Najaden" and "Diana", which were ready to lay out oil booms, if it proved necessary. The Home Guard sent a patrol aircraft and Air Force helicopters repeatedly to the area which were monitoring both the waters and shores. The "Victoria" remained at anchor northwest of Fyns Hoved for the time being, waiting for the weather to be quiet enough for a diver to got down and examine the damage.
