NORWAY's OceanSaver has won orders for 40 ballast water treatment (BWT) systems for large vessels over the last six months, with 21 units delivered so far this year.
The latest contracts, worth US$30 million, cover very large crude carriers (VLCCs), Aframax tankers, product tankers, and Cape Size bulk carrier, said the company.
A pair of Taiwanese-controlled VLCCs, currently under construction in Japan, are the latest in the orderbook.
"The market is picking up, and our operational track record and proven BWT [ballast water treatement] expertise is helping us take advantage of that positive sentiment," said sales chief Tor Atle Eiken.
"Ratification of the IMO's Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention is now closer. Shipowners are choosing to place orders in advance to avoid potential supply and installation bottlenecks.
"With 140 units now sold, we have the technology and experience to ensure shipowners get exactly what they need: complete compliance, low OPEX and absolute system reliability," Mr Eiken said.
