The New Zealand Nevy has purchased the 'Edda Fonn' from the Østensjø Shipping Company. The ship will now sail to the Devonport Naval Base, where it will be converted to a diving ship until May 2019. She was being berthed in Southampton, UK, since Aug 29, 2018, for underwater surveys. Including rebuilding, the 'Edda Fonn' will cost 103 million New Zealand dollars. The New Zealand Navy will also use the ship for hydrographic measurements. She replaces two other ships, the HMNZS 'Resolution' and HMNZS 'Manawanui'.
