The new built "Panerai" was threatened to sink in the morning of Dec 18, 2017, near Willemstad in the Hollandsch Deep close to the Haringvliet Bridge. It was kept afloat by the salvage company BST Dintelsas. The ship was about to start a trial with 11.000 tons coal on board when it suffered water ingress in the engine room. The water level rose to two meters, and all systems on board failed. The tug "Furie 4" (MMSI: 244830754) of BST Dintelsas as well as the fire brigades Dinteloord and Willemstad attended. The KNRM provided a mobile pump until the larger capacity of the "Furie 4" was available.
