PAO Sovcomflot (SCF Group) has held a naming ceremony for its new built-to-order icebreaking standby vessel, Fedor Ushakov, named after the legendary Russian naval commander Admiral Fedor Ushakov (1745-1817). The Russian naval commander was said to not have suffered a single defeat throughout his career and was instrumental in the founding of the port of Sevastopol and the development of Russia’s Black Sea fleet. Today, the Fedor Ushakov is a 3,824-dwt multifunctional vessel and the third in a series of four icebreaking supply and standby vessels commissioned by SCF Group, under a long term agreement with Sakhalin Energy – the Sakhalin-2 project operator. Two of these vessels have been delivered earlier this year – Gennadiy Nevelskoy and Stepan Makarov.
