JAPANESE shipping giant MOL said its the first quarter overall on-time arrival performance fell to 79 per cent from 83 per cent, blaming Shanghai port congestion.
Transpacific routes scored 79-92 per cent on time; Asia-US on time performance ranged from 52-76 per cent; transatlantic services were 65-78 per cent on time; Asia-Europe was 45-60 per cent on time while Asia-Med was in the 18-100 per cent range.
On the Asia-east coast South America route, MOL on-time performance ranged from 58-100 per cent, while between Asia and Mexico/west coast South America it ranged from 76-96 per cent.
On-time performance decreased due to port congestion at central and south Chinese ports, said the MOL statement.
But MOL vessels improved performance to 84 per cent, compared to 67 per cent in the last quarter, which was affected by port closure at Shanghai and congestion at Asian and Mexican ports. Only one MOL vessel delayed due to labour strikes and port congestion in Chile.
In the intra-Asia trades, Japan-Hong Kong/Straits on time performance was between 77-100 per cent; Japan-Thailand services had a 63-100 per cent rating while Japan-Thailand service scored between 72-100 per cent,
