"MATILDE A." in collision with "Varkan Akdeniz" off Constanta
On Nov 1, 2015, short past midnight the container m/v "Matilde A" was in collision with the "Varkan Akdeniz" off Constanta.
Container "Matilda" was traveling from berth no. 52 and head towards the exit, and the oil tanker "Akdeniz" will enter the port to berth no. 69 Oil Terminal to load 1,000 tons of fuel oil. Both ships had pilots on board, the company Black Waters.
Following impact, the containership "Matilda" got a base (fold - n.red.) 2.5 meters on 2 meters and 40 cm water hole below the waterline in the starboard ballast tank .
At the time of the incident, the wind blowing force 7-8 on the Beaufort scale and the captain had sent notice of the storm. There were no injuries and no oil leaked into the sea.
The two ships were drawn quay, "Matilda" will arrive in the shipyard for repair. Constanta port captain investigating the event.
