Maersk said to buy nine 14,000-TEUers from Hyundai Heavy
DENMARK's AP Moller Maersk is believed to have signed a letter of intent to purchase nine 14,000-TEU containerships from South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries with an option for seven more ships of the same size.
The contract is valued at US$2 billion provided the option is exercised. These ships are scheduled for gradual delivery from 2017 onwards, reported Korea IT Times.
In late May, Hyundai also won an order for six 14,000-TEU box ships from French shipping line CMA CGM with an estimated value of $700 million.
