Maersk's Damco opens second container freight station in Cambodia
DAMCO, a third party logistics (3PL) provider specialising infreight forwarding and supply chain solutions, has opened a second container freight station (CFS) warehouse facility in Cambodia to meet growing demand.
The company opened its first CFS warehouse in August 2011. Both facilities combined offer a total space of 16,000 square metres with 40 loading bays and an advanced CCTV system, said a Damco statement.
The second warehouse is located along National Road 4 and within a kilometre of major manufacturers in Phum Chompou worn, Sangkat Choom Chao Phnom Penh.
This new, additional facility is in line with the company's strategy to continue to strengthen and further develop its presence in Cambodia, as well as to support its customers' growth in this emerging market.
The new warehouse provides inventory management, order processing, radio frequency (RF) scanning, bar coding, vendor and carrier management, and value-added services such as cross border and inland trucking.
Said Damco country manager Andy Lim: "There are often many challenges doing business in emerging markets - infrastructure bottlenecks on the quayside, along road or rail networks or local procedures and practices. Here in Cambodia, the strong support from the government and local authorities gives us the confidence that this market will continue to develop positively and will be one of the most competitive markets in the region, for many years to come."
