    APM TERMINALS Pipavav posted a quarterly net profit increase of five per cent year on year to INR52

    APM TERMINALS Pipavav posted a quarterly net profit increase of five per cent year on year to INR52.2 million (US$733,937), drawn on revenues INR174.7 million, up 7.4 per cent, reports the Press Trust of India. 'The company has registered a year on year growth of 45 per cent in container volume with the healthy mix of EXIM,' said APMT Pipavav managing director Keld Pedersen.

    Besides, the roll-on, roll-off the Maersk port operator's business handled about 20,000 cars for the quarter under review.

    Transshipment and coastal volumes came in at 251,000 TEU, having the company post its highest quarterly container volume.

    APM Terminals Pipavav is one of gateway ports for containers, ro-ro passenger cars, liquid bulk and dry bulk cargoes serving customers in Gujarat with road and rail networks to India's hinterland and northwest.

    The current annual cargo handling capacity includes 1.35 million TEU containers, 250,000 passenger cars, two million tonnes of liquid bulk and four million tonnes of dry bulk.
