Chinese buyers have agree to pay $11.7 mill for Japanese controlled RUBY CREST (73K BLT 1997 SAMHO/S. KOREA) which is in line with last week’s Vogemann’s panamax sales. Other Chinese buyers have committed Korean controlled EASTERN QUEEN (70K BLT 1994 DAEWOO/S. KOREA) for $9.2 mill which had fixed and failed back in January again to Chinese buyers for $11 mill. Ten year old supramax EVIAN (51K BLT 2002 NEW CENTURY/CHINA CR 4X30T) is again reported sold for the soft level of $11.8 mill, having being reported sold for $12.2 mill back in April. Undisclosed buyers have bought en bloc nineties-vintage handymax duo SERASIH 2 (49K BLT 1999 IHI/JAPAN CR 4X25T) & SELARAS (46K BLT 1994 TSUNEISHI/JAPAN CR 4X25T) for $20.5 mill, which translates to $12-12.5 mill for Serasih 2 and $8-8.5 mill for Selaras. Bangladesh buyers have paid slightly more ($9 mill) for 8 box hold/8 open hatch handymax SANKO RALLY (42.5K BLT 1994 NAMURA/JAPAN CR 4X30T).
Handy GLOBAL EXPLORER 25K BLT 1996/JAPAN CR 4X30.5T) attracted $8.25 mill including 3 years time charter at a rate of $7,850 per day by undisclosed buyers while same age but box-shaped APOLLO (28K BLT 1996/JAPAN CR 4X30T) went to Greek buyers for the similar price of $8 mill.
In the Tanker segment, aframax BUNGA KELANA SATU (105K BLT 1997 HYUNDAI/S.KOREA) is reported sold for $9.5 mill to Greek buyers, following last week’s sale of exact sister BUNGA KELANA DUA (105K BLT 1997 HYUNDAI/S.KOREA) for $8.75 mill basis special & dry-docking surveys due.
Clients of Dileton Maritime of Greece are reported to have purchased en bloc three MR units, namely MAERSK CLAUDIA, MAERSK CAMERON & MAERSK CASSANDRA (46K BLT 1995 HALLA/S.KOREA IMO 2) for $10 mill each while similar JAG PRADIP (46K BLT 1996 HANJIN/S. KOREA) have achieved $9 mill from undisclosed buyers. Three double hull product sisters ALPHA PROSPERITY, ALPHA PRESTIGE & ALPHA POWER (8.5K BLT 1995/96 ATLANTIS/SINGAPORE) have gone en bloc for $11 mill to undisclosed buyers (pricewise about $3.6 mill each). Stainless steel super ice class unit TRANS SCANDIC (6.8K BLT 1992 GERMANY ICE 1A ST. STEEL) have commanded the price of $5.8 mill from undisclosed buyers. Contrary to various reports of last week, where handy unit SINBAD 1786 (28K BLT 1995/SPAIN DOUBLE HULL, COILED, EPOXY COATED) was prematurely reported as sold, she remains for sale and we understand she is under negotiations.
Last but not least, older fully pressurized LPG unit UMM SHAIF (4.3K BLT 1991/JAPAN) is committed to undisclosed buyers for $2.5 mill.
On the container front, MISC continues to dispose their container tonnage, selling this week feeder sisters BUNGA TERATAI TIGA & BUNGA TERATAI EMPAT (24.5K BLT 1998 DAEWOO/S. KOREA 1725 TEUS) to clients of Sea Consortium of Singapore for $5.9 mill each. We understand that mid-nineties geared feeder IPANEMA (24K BLT 1995 JAPAN 1613 TEUS CR 2X40T CR 1X30T) is sold for a firm $5 mill to clients of Seachange Maritime of U.S.A. en bloc with exact sister IKARUGA and 1997 built sister IZU at undisclosed levels. Geared & German built feeder WARNOW TRADER (22K BLT 1996 MTW/GERMANY 1608 TEUS CR 3X40T) commanded a price of $5 mill from German buyers.
In the Demolition sector, Subcontinent sentiment is negative as prices have soften due to oversupply of tonnage & monsoon season approaching. Prices are ranging this week at $460 for bulkers, at $485 for tankers & at $485 for Tweendeckers/Containers. In other major demo-markets this week, China is steady, paying $415 while Turkey remains bullish paying $360-365 per lt.
